Trifolium rubens, Pink Clover

Trifolium rubens
Pink Feather Clover or Japanese Ornamental Clover
Clovers. whether ornamental or as pasture plants are given the tag of clever because as they are legumes they are able to improve the fertility of soils through their ability to fix nitrogen and their deep penetrating roots are able to go down and help break up some of the heaviest of soils.
This pink feather clover is quite an attractive plant but needs a cooler more temperate climate than I was able to give it. It flowered well but the leaves suffered a bit from mildew and the whole plant was not particularly robust. It could be quite a useful plant to grow as a companion plant in a vegetable garden. It is fairly easily propagated by division at any time of year.
2017 update: I no longer have this plant.
