Maurandya growing through the tall growing perennial vegetable Kale (Brassica oleracea)
This frost tender climber from Mexico is rarely seen now perhaps because like a lot of vines it grows quickly to cover a fence or screen but drops lots of seeds which come up around the place for years afterwards and are a bit of a nuisance The tubular bell flowers ,which resemble the perennial Penstemon ,hence the common name,completely clothe the tiny triangular Ivy like leaves and the whole effect is of a curtain of flowers. It is certainly hardy in a mild climate and requires no special attention and has no pests or diseases.
2017 update: What a weed! I am still trying to get rid of it from the garden.
