The pinky apricot flowers of the perennial Agastache aurantiacus combine well with the steely blue foliage of Melianthus major , the burgundy coloured grass Pennisetum , purple ground cover Tradescantia pallida .and the small silvery clump forming Tulbaghia violescens 'Variegata' These plants have low water requirements and are very hardy.Agastache have aromatic foliage and the tubular flowers attract honey eating birds .It is especially loved by the New Holland Honeyeaters. However this species can be short lived and may need to be replaced after a couple of seasons. It is easy to grow from cuttings which strike readily during the warmer months. It is native to southern US and Mexico.
2017 update: I no longer grow them and I think they need a drier less humid summer climate.
